What's causing this noise???

I seem to be having my first problem with my 96 savage.
Recently with the arrival of summer and hot weather, I've
noticed that when my bike gets hot the engine developes
a pretty loud "tick". The bike has the correct amount of
oil, but that's about were my engine knowledge stops.
Has anyone had this problem? If so what caused it
